Have just put my order in to Wil :thumbright:

I have become more safety concious, and have gone for low band apply and steel drums in both cars - we like our feet and don't want our legs fraying.

This puts a big cost onto a transmission (probably an extra £500 - £700 per box, as I have also gone for a steel planetary); but I think it is worth it. Those pictures of transmission explosions are a sobering thought..............

Oh, i thought the planetary was steel ? :?

Nope, the centre section with the splines is alloy.

Transbrakes can rip them out, apparently....

Your regular 4 pinion ally cased planetry, the splines strip out of the middle apparently. To be honest, I've never seen one stripped or broken in any way, so they are obviously more robust than they look.

So, what do you need more fast apply or quicker release ?

I stripped mine out in a 318/904 in my Oz Charger.

That was because as a silly 22 year old I found it would launch great if you revved to 5K in neutral and then pulled it into drive. :thumbright:

It worked brilliant until one night I suddenly had no forward gears.

A local trans specialist fitted one from a Jensen 727 for me. At least that is where he said he got it from.

Dave, my mate left his prop in the road at Chelsea one cruise night, trying to get his 69 Fury to smoke the tyres

Just shows how much abuse the box can take though. I was doing that for months. :thumbright:
