Hiya, I am still dumb as ever, I was there and posted the following on the other page.
Just a quick education for me, could you give me a quick run down on how to read timing slips?
Cheers
Well I got down there at 945pm Sat nite (on my own!!sob sob) just cos no one would come last minute even the mrs.
Still, had some beers and then sat in my car and sung myself to sleep! sad.
Anyway I thought it was a great day, Red hot and plenty of action on the strip.
Recognised Kev in the Valiant and Duncan who I got the car off.
Glad I went, came home in the afternoon to dismantle the brakes on the charger so I can have all the lines replaced asap now that I have an engine to fit.
Hope everyone else had a good time

The numbers in the middle are the distance in feet. In line with each are the times that the respective cars got to those points. There is a speed given for the 1/8 mile and 1/4 mile points. Not sure how the reaction times worked here, since a perfect reaction is 0.4 sec and then the times are often less! Perhaps it's time after the 0.4 sec?
We were all there last night, great band. Good to catch up with all the usual suspects (and a few unusual ones)

.
Now I shall continue patting myself on the back

Brilliant on Saturday, superb weather and the Mopar turnout was excellent, so to get all the news in one posting would see this thread disappearing off the bottom of the page, so in no particular order, a lightning precis of Saturday...sorry, gardening duty Sunday
Kev was on top form with the Brisbane Taxi sounding great... but getting too much traction with those slicks! Blue was raiding his magic box trying different shooters for Kev's 600 Holley as his 60 foots went up and down like the Lopar Fury's suspension.
Next stop saw Dunc with his new Challenger pulling consistent nine and a half second runs...and that was taking his foot off the gas at about the 100 foot mark..95 mph terminal speeds points towards some lairy gearing!
quick wander around the fields to see what was new and Uncle Pete turned up with a fresh and genuine (what do you expect!) Challenger R/T...once again, Blue to the rescue with some twiddling down the steering column...ooh! does she like it, sir?...so Pete could drive home with some indicators.
Tig's car looked wonderful as usual...those Indy heads make the motor look HUGE! but then it is, isn't it?
Guy was proving that 340s are something to be proud of, as his Barracuda sounded on top form...and despite previous problems with the paint the car still looks superb.
I'm gonna have to mention the P word...I'm sorry but I've forgotten who own's the Red 69 Road Runner with the Go Wing, but it's now running a stroker with a Procharger...Jeez it was quick!
The Blew By You Satellite was looking ace, and turned out in top form were the boys from Luton ( I think that's where Marc Smith is from) with the beatiful Belvedere and matching low loader...top rig lads and the Belv was sounding crisp.
I was there all day before Richard noticed I was around...this is what happens when you're getting on in years...somehow I don't think the pipe and slippers will go with the Kwacker Green Coronet...
All we needed was a big Mopar flag, so everyone could have met up, but no doubt someone will fill us in on who I've missed out and the Sunday action of course, which sadly saw Wayne Saunders barrel roll the '56 Chevy at 170 mph...luckily, just some broken bones, but a very broken Chevy...

Ivor we're from Halifax just a couple of hundred miles out but hay we'll let you off, what an excellent weekend we worked like h*ll to get the car ready but it paid off! we cruised down on saturday morning with George Chiles in his awsome 69 RoadRunner, any way 1st run George was straight off the street, bolted a pair of slicks on and ran 10.99 he was only looking for low 11's! our 1st run was an 11.30 a long way off the pace but the reason for this was my dad (Jerry) launched that hard he pulled the shifter straight thru into second, next run george ran 11.1 we ran 9.98 with our best 60ft yet 1.44 one more run on saturday for us resulted in a 10.4 but as seems to be the case for us recently something had packed in! the mechanical linelock had held the back brakes on all the way down the track! Sunday morning was really busy but we decieded to run side by side with george we went 9.93 george went 10.8, we only ran once more on sunday that was about 4 o'clock after the crash and we ran a 10.0 so all in all a great weekend!! Great to see some old friends and now some new ones! nice to meet you kev, probably won't be out again till the nats so see you all there, anyone who got any pics of either cars over the weekend it would be great if you could post them
Boy, I enjoyed it!

First time out for me at such an event. Drove the Dart up from Cornwall which left a nasty dent in the wallet but, so worth the effort. Numerous stand out cars especially the above mentioned Belvedere and the Roadrunner with procharger. Did that one run the numbers? If so, i missed it. Glad to see the bloke in the chevy survived intact.
Big thanks for the advice on my cam/carb from Cliff and Guy and friends. finally, I liked the 'go for it' attitude in that most people i met suggested I run my car up the strip despite it being nothing special, maybe at the Mopar nats?

That's the spirit!
Mine isn't anything special, but I enjoy it and I'm learning about it until one day I do have something special. That's how most guys get started.
Go on, you know you want to
By the way, after you spoke to me about the car setup I went out and ran a 15.2 (I don't know if I mentioned it before

) so I guess your's could run similar times.

Nice report Ivor, good to see you at the end of the day,Must have missed you earlier due to all the smoke from the pipe :silent: Just a couple of points though,I think if dunc lifted at 100 foot and ran a 9.5 he must have been in a top fueler. If you call it 660 foot(eigth mile) you may be right. Also you will be glad to hear that the famous trouser press WAS Roger Ruskin- Spear!!You were spot on.
