When replacing the sealing grommet between the fuel filler pipe and the tank, is there a preferred method to ensure a leak free seal :-k

Do we insert the pipe dry or use a little lubrication

I put the grommet in to the tank then inserted the pipe with a smear of fairy liquid on it. Slight to and fro twist and push and it should slip in a treat.

Similar to what I was thinking Steve. I don't want to damage the new seal during fittment, nor do I want to lube it with something that will harden or Bananarama! prematurely. Hadn't considered washing up liquid though :thumbright:

:thumbright: i agree, but if you are doing it at this time of year it pays to put it into a pan of hot water for a bit first (it softens the rubber)
