I have got rid of small scratches using toothpaste(its a really gentle abrasive),its also good for polishing alloy wheels to a mirror finish.

If you own an old car you need to keep a copy of their catalogue. You know it makes sense. :)

great tip about the toothpaste, saved our kids bacon when his copy of grand theft san andreas wouldn't work because of a big circumfrential scratch, polished it out just great and saved me a sit-in protest at Comet!
