I only jacked up the rear to change a tyre and the fuel gauge stopped working. Any obvious suspect before i start getting mad with the wiring?

might be telling you how to suck eggs here but has the wire fallen off the sender unit allso if its like my charger its a plug that pushes over a bit that looks like a bolt on the sender unit this plug was dirty on mine i cleaned it up and it works now

possibly two reasons for this if you let the jack down too quick the float may have jamed at the bottom of its stroke (rare but does happen), or you have a bad earth on the tank ie where the sender sits in the tank .
