looking to paint the car soon, would have the whole front end been painted the same colour or would it have been painted black from the rad forward as I've seen lots of cars done this way?

and was the underneath waxoiled as stock?

And finally! does a none original colour de-value a matching numbers car?

When you say painted black from the the rad forward, do you mean the slam panel?

The car wouldn't have been waxoyld as stock, most cars where left in primer underneath, with a bit of overspray running down each side!

However, I believe underseal was a dealer option and it was the old bitumin based stuff.

Finally, if you have a numbers matching, original car, changing the colour from stock will reduce its resale value.

Whole front and engine compartment body colour, then for most colours (all except the very dark ones) the area behind the grill would be blacked out to avoid body colour showing through. Many people forget to do it and it looks horrible if you don't!

It was not masked off, they had a guy in a pit below spray it. There is a factory drawing that you may find online giving guidance but basically it varied (being a manual process) but covered the radiator yoke, including (especialy) the bottom part that hangs down, right out to the headlamp buckets.
