Having just fitted this Holley for the 1st time, it leaks a lot of fuel out of the
round area on the front bowl, as shown in the picture. Any idea on how i can seal or fix that?
I want to keep this carb, as it is the correct Holley for 71 cuda

Get some nylon reusable needle seat gaskets. Everyone should have them

Kev, i am confused or a bit slow today, but will these bits then replace the round area that is leaking, do i tap that out and screw in the new bit.?

The bit Roel is showing is where the float height (fuel level) adjustment would be. However on his carb it seems to have been factory set and blanked off.

Yes. In a normal application there is an adjuster for the float height, never seen it blanked off.

That looks like an OEM Holley did for manufacturers.

The Holley did for Ford (428CJ, various Boss Mustangs) had the same set up with the vent, but they were side hung floats. Not at home so can't hunt down photos. Sorry.

In my '71 service manuel, it also shows pics of it being blanked off, as Dave has said

does it unscrew ??? either way get the thing out use some type off sealer suitible for petrol and send it back in, if its a blank it sure as hell should not leak, bet it was just pressed in at the factory,

Yes it is pressed in. May or may not be threaded under it.

Roel I think you need to see if you can get to the other side of it and get some of that tank repair epoxy I was telling you about on it.

The pic show the inside, the brown plastic bit on the floatlevel looks very solid, I guess I have to try and pry that loose?

The float heights have to be internally adjusted on that carb.

Depending on which way & how fast you take a corner , those side hung float bowl heights are gonna be all over the hockey.

Those reverse idle carbs work in the opposite way to the 'standard' carbs , turning the mixture screws out (anticlockwise) will LEAN the idle
circuit (introduce air not fuel) , there will be a tag above the mixture screw pointing this out.

Another thought. You could just try whacking the top with a hammer to see if it seals better.

But the danger then is distorting the fuel bowl.
