Got the stripes on last night.
Instructions followed, appeared to be on perfectly etc.

On peel of there are bubbles underneath - apparently this is normal.
It says 'pop the big ones with a pin, push down - any remaining will clear in a couple of days'.
Does that sound right to you ? I've done what I can, but there are LOADS of little (like pea sized) bubbles left.
Looks OK from 10 feet away, but up close parts are horrible.

Anyone got any experience of this and will these clear ? Any further attempts to 'smooth out' are marking the vinyl.

Stripe looks spot on goin through the side markers.

Can't help you Morgan , as mine was painted on , did you use a squeegy?

Alot of them will go on thier own, just use a pin to let the air out of the big bubbles, then a bit of time in the sun will soften the vinyl up and it should settle out. just dont keep pressing the bubbles or rubbing them as it will leave marks on the vinyl.

there's a bit of a nak in putting them on, the first few i put on were rubbish, and have settled out ok now, some of the others i removed when it was getting the colour changed and the second time i put the decals on was a whole different story, they went on so much easier and smooth as a smooth thing!!

Get the hairdrier on it , just don't tell her.

Morgan, squeegy out as many of the bubbles as you can, even if you have to put a little more water on the stripe, burst the bigger ones with a pin and flatten out, the tiny ones should dry out.

Have all I can without marking too much I think. Will pin the rest, and take her for a drive in the sun today.

PS - Adam - yep, there was much swearing when one side was 3mm out of true. Sorted now though ! Crazy really given the general geometry of this car. 3mm would be a GOOD fit !

Did you wet the surface before you put them on?

Loads n loads soapy water over bodywork, so you can slide n position , then a plastic squeedgy or a new body filler spreader to push water to the outside , looks like not enough water at start .

I wouldnt be inclined to use a Hairdryer, might crinkle the Vinyl

I had the same thing on the Road Runner decal across the trunk lid, lots of air bubbles but they all disappeared after a month or so.

burst the worst , hoping the small ones will go.
Worst case scenario I'll have to get another one. Interestingly, some of them had air in, some had water in ! Bit like spot-popping...

if you need another give me a shout should be able to get em for nowt (tea,biscuits,beer mates rates) Ive a couple of sources for getting vinyl cut. One place will do anything up to 12" wide the other up to 54"(i beleive) but that will cost. they do a lovely chrome/mirrored vinyl as well

Soapy water not a good idea.. Application fluid is the stuff to use (if you do them wet).

What colour squeegee did you use? Was it felt or plastic?
Was it a good quality vinyl? But small bubbles will dissapear after a while.

I was going to get all the patterns for all the mopars, so I could cut stripes, or even paint them. But I decided it would be stoopid, as they are really expensive to get hold of. So it would be a lost leader, for sure. I am going to make some for the Dodge.

I dont mean to hyjack your thread but check this out, i had to lay the black backround first and then lay the gold on top, id only ever done it once before and was pacing for a while and chain smoking before i started, cost me a small fortune to get the decals made!! just wanted to share this with someone with the same job!!!
