Nats in a Mondeo.

That's it. The Charger failed it's MoT dismally.
Looks like I won't make ANY meets this year.
I've now got to decide whether it's worth trying to do enough repairs to get an MoT (which will cost hundreds), or bite the bullitt and start stripping. I'd always planned a complete strip and rebuild, but can't afford to spend thousands at the moment. The original plan was to try and keep it on the road while I collect parts. Don't really want to spend money on areas that I will end up doing again properly at a later date. What a bummer!

You bet. Inner and outer sills both sides, rear inner arches. But seeing as the rears wings, tail light panel, filler panel, floors front and rear, and trunk floor all need replacing as well, I wonder whether it's worth while doing a half-assed job, or doing the lot properly.

It'll be more work trying to patch it up than replacing everything properly. :(

"but can't afford to spend thousands at the moment"

what you say it failed on is bodgeable in the short term, as it doesn't really affect the paint too much

what you say needs doing is going to cost to do it right

guess it depends on $$ and when you would like to be driving it

If you can weld just spend a long weekend patching all the structural bits. Make your own repair panels from stock steel. Sod the paint. You can always paint the lower 10 inches of the car black. I have done that before just to get a car on the road.

Look at Petrolhead's Aussie Charger. See how he has repaird that?

Even if you are not that skilled you can make it look half decent. It will still look like a Charger and most people wouldn't even notice the repairs.

I've worked on cars with 20 failures and got it back in the same day and passed, welder, tin snips, underseal

Dave and Jim are right

if you ain't got the $$$$$$ don't even consider trying to do it right

leave the "do it right" till you can

get an mot anyway you can, legally off course, then make a plan, first part of the plan is to make sure rot is stopped, Frost do a good product

then get panels as and when you can until you have everything you need

then save for paint

I'm with the boys, my quarters/boot floor/inner arches have all had remedial work which is short term. But, and its a big but, the car is on the road nearly all year. Find a 'friendly' welder and go for it.
I had 8 MOT fails last week inc suspension and welding, took 24 hrs and £200 to sort it.
It's about 6 weeks to the nats!! :thumbright:
