727 oil filler/dipstick tube leak

the dipstick tube on Brl is real old & a loose fit in the 727, have tried various combos of o rings & silicon but it still keeps leaking.
fill the box to max when running & hot, then when you switch it off & as it cools the level comes up & the oil leaks where the tube goes into the box, should the oil level be this high (am I overfilling it- im just going of the dipstick but dont know how accuarte that is )
anybody ?

Are you sure the dipstick tube is fully in? Often the pan gasket needs to be trimmed because it can stop you getting the tube far enough in.

I have got one of those - very good, apart from the fact that it still secures via the bell housing bolts, making gearbox removal a pain. Chopped the floor out not, so that should help :twisted:

cheers lads, but i dont think tube was pushed in far enough & nick that hughes tube might be a good idea :thumbright:
