I'm about to order my wheels and tyres:

Front: 15x7 with a 3.5" backspace - tyres: 235/60r15

Rear: 15x10 with a 4.5" backspace - tyres: 275/60r15

Opinions? Advice?

Cheers.

Might have a problem with the Bananarama! the arches , i've got the same rear combo on mine (black windows)with 275/50/15 , i run caltracs so can get away with it , 60 profile will cause problems , 50 profile may work if the springs are good.

Some get away with it using air shocks , you really don't wanna go down that route.

Sorry i did'nt give you the info you wante to hear , a great lookin wheel though , i normally run TT2s , when i get bored with em i swap over to the black windows , completely transforms the car , looks mean.

Cheers Brutus, it's not a case of 'not wanting to hear' stuff, I'm asking so I don't buy the wrong stuff.

I apreciate the info and now I need to adapt it to my car. I never realised wheels and tyres were so complicated(!)

The black windows do look mean though don't they? That's why I chose them. 8-)

Nice

Checked the rear tyre size , there 275x60x15 , don't think they manufacture the 50 profile for that tyre , Budgie will know.

You might get away with it if you have the rear springs retempered & 1 1/2" to 2" added to them , or maybe empty the boot , carry no passengers & run the fuel tank on near empty. :clown:

Been there done it , eh Bob, ;)

My Cornet swallowed 275/60X15's on 15x8 Rallyes with 4.5" back space. No modifications, no issues.

Adam , Duke is talkin about 10" rims.

I think you need a 5.5" backspace with a 10 inch rim.

Just as a point of reference the tires that are on are:

Front 205/70 R15
Rear 235/75 R15

These are all wrong I know, that's why I'm changing them but as far as clearance/height goes I think I'll be ok.

I just need to calculate backspace for the rears. I originally thought 4.5" on the 10" rims at the back but I think Mick70RR may be right and I need to go 5.5" bs on the back. I'm still calculating :read2:

Cheers for this stuff fellas, it's good to have the benefit of all your experiences. :thumbright:

Just a thought , if you go with the 5.5" backspace , then you will loose the 'full look' on the rear , will only be an inch different than stock look , a few of us have got away with fitting 10" rims with 4.5 back space , come to think of it :idea1: my TT2s have a 3 3/4 back space , never had a problem with the black window 4.5 back space , sooooo , forget all my last posts & get those black windows.
