What is it that you really want ? Would it not make sense just to enjoy your car as it is for the time being ? If you were to sell it, unfortunately I doubt that it would fetch much money. Take a look at the '68 Barracuda in the "for sale" section at the moment and you can see how little A body cars are fetching. Aussie cars seem to be even more of a niche market. In your shoes I would probably keep it, drive it and spend a little on it here and there to keep myself entertained. Keep your eyes peeled for some good used go faster bits for the engine and have fun with it while you save for what you really want :thumbright:

:iagree: Get it to a stage where you can use it regular, if it needs paint and an interior, strip it, keep it primer and buckets, that way it'll look mean and fast til you find the one ;)

I've been thinking along your lines for a few months. I've got a generally undesirable car that is worth 10% of sod all,even though it's the only one of it's kind in the UK. So,I thought,why not spend £2-3K on it and upgrade the running gear and make some moulds for some of the panels.Despite what's said,it's not much heavier than many b body cars and with a bit of fettling will weigh about the same as most out there,with the advantage of a more stable wider track and longer wheelbase. So,that's it ,440,suregrip,some stripping out and a go at making fibreglass panels. :lol:
You could always go the Kev route,with a screaming smallblock,chop the car about etc,safe in the knowledge that you're not cutting up some precious antique.

Here lies the age old problem again!

Tune the car to the max, and chop it up to lose weight?

Then it becomes too scary to drive on the street, and too expensive to fuel up on a regular basis?

OK, so I'm being a killjoy! Its real tempting to go down that road, but, you see less and less of these historic cars on the road, and even less in the States, as they are all in shock, due to 4bucks a gallon.

Use it and enjoy it Petrolhead!!!
It won't be long till you will have to change you name to Hydrogenhead???

LPG and turbo

LPG carb is a sealed unit Impco do a 425 which flows approx 460 CFM

cost about 150 you need a rising rate evaporator plumbed into high pressure side of turbo

run 2 of each if ya like

they bolt onto holley style throttle plates easy.

the throttle plates need to have the bearings sealed.

you can weld so i guess turbo manifolds for the exhuast end of things is no bother

standard manifolds modified with steam pipe and a flange

the engine is not exactly at CR associated with turbo use but you are running LPG which has a much better octane rating.

you will want to lock off the ignition timing at approx 10 BTDC

easy done

pick up a standard Aussie Mopar ELB dissy. this is a distributaor with no advance mechanism built in. used on Electronic Lean burn Models (mid 70s ECU)

or use a ford edis module and trigger wheel in limp home mode.

or just wire/spot weld up the weights in your current one


Tank can be had off ebay

filler can be mounted into the current filler

lock off and braided pipe for install can be had from LPG installer

run it till the valve seats fall out 50,000 + miles

or get an LPG cam (very gentle close profile on the exhaust lobes)

or run a flash lube injector. just like water injection but includes and upper cylinder lube

you then go really quite fast with a 318

don't make the mistake of thinking this gear is the same as on a forklift or a dual fuel Jeep. proper gas carb with metering rods a diaphraghm not some gas cooker ring bolted into your air filter

its an aussie car

MMmm turbo and nitrous (LPG or not)

might like to invest in a set of pistons.

really don't have to worry about any fancy inlet or porting though do ya
