So where did the name "Drag" come from?

Is it not from the early days of racing 'on the main drag',the street,before organised private strips?

Derived from, the main street or Drag...(slang) a term used in early America when horses used to pull DRAGS or a wheeless carridges, which was used to break in the young horses and mules ;)

ie...Horse and Drag
