After splitting the box in two last week and tying the propshaft in a knot, i noticed the snout on my converter had a groove in it.
So i rang and asked about repairing the turbo action converter and tightening the 8" Dynamic up.
Anyway, the guy starts going on about how useless the yanks are at building converters unless it was a neal chance one and telling me how good his Co was, i asked him for a price and he couldn't even give me a rough guess, said he would cut them open and then give me the price. I told him it was a turbo action converter and he said i've never heard of them.
This is a guy dealing with converters every day, you think he might he would want to know who the competition his and who deals in quality and who builds crap.
Tbh, i'm not too sold on these people and thinking about sending it back to the states to be looked at.
Rant over, i would like opinions from anyone who's dealt with these and what the results were before making a final decision.
Thanks Mick

mick just either have a new neck put in or use as is if the groove is not deadly,, you have loads to go at before the converter is a real issue
lots off people running faster on a much lesser converter, waste off good money sending it back the states this early in your game

I use Sussex all the time for stock convertor repairs, fast, cheap and no problems yet. Send them a performance convertor and it's a different story, a repair can cost more than a new one and they don't exactly fill you with confidence discussing stuff on the phone. There used to be a guy there that really seemed to know his stuff, but he is long since gone.

The groove is about an 1/8", the dynamic is not usable without tightening up.
The J converter, works well in my car, so all i want is it flushing out and a new snout.
TBH Blue, i read the thread that Turnip posted and that didn't exactly instill me with faith.

If you dont mind, i will pm you, or ring you to speak a little more about this.

I seem to remember Cliff Turner had his converter made by these people (4500)? for his Dart. Hopefully he'll post.

I phoned them up for trans parts, got talking convertors and they quoted me £225 and a week turnround. Said the convertor would be built to suit.
I asked them if it would 'flash up' in the way that Dynamic convertors do. That was a different price ;)
Even so, I emailed them my spec for a firm quote and never heard back, although the trans parts were supplied without issue.
