When I type an email or reply to an email half the letters don't come out, have to wait an age typing the letter several times til it types. Anyone else having this problem? No problem like this anywhere else on the net....

Hi Kev
What you're getting is "bounce".
If you are using an online email service then your keyboard is sending it's keystrokes/keys pressed up your internet connection, Bananarama! the internet hub and then the signal is sent back and then shows on your screen.
Some newer email/web programs etc require more info to be passed between your computer and the web. The more info you stuff down an internet connection the slower it gets.
It's like trying to flush a 6 inch turd down a 4 inch pipe
Swapping to an older or less info heavy browser should make it better.
We used to have to operate computers using Satellite links, sometimes the signal would go from Kabul, up into space, down to UK land reciever, across the internet, hit our servers in Feltham, then go all the way back again. It would sometimes take half a second after typing a letter for it to appear on the screen back in Kabul

if you have a browser in the background or are using IE7 or firefox tabbed browsing
and one of the tabs or browsers you are NOT looking at has a shed load of advertising on it that updates automatically
or its yahoo mail type thingy that updates automatically and keeps checking if you have new mail
it just grinds ya PC into the ground.
each tab or browser window you are not looking at is trying to stay up to date along with the one you are actually using.
test it out
open Gmail
work in it send a couple
then leave ya pc logged on for a day with G mail up
when you come back it will run like an absolute dog
nothing you type in webmail or here actually leaves ya PC until you hit submit

If I had a PC I'd riddle the grate, put a couple more shovel fulls of coal in and give it a damned good stoking...that'll get Gmail to work at full speed.
Toot tooot!
