Something interesting for you to read on the board for a change.

They should bring the turbine program back. The engines would run on any kind of fuel or any mixture of fuel without any adjustments.

Wiki has a bit of history on turbine powered cars. The first being a British ROVER of course. ;)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gas_turbin ... n_vehicles

I have an interest in turbines linked to the fact they were first developed in Newcastle and I have friends who worked for Parsons until the last recession. We also have some of Parsons original test equipment here at the Uni. In particular his strobe tank for studying the problem of cavitation which he discovered was destroying his high speed props on his boats. We also have a massive ships output shaft reduction gear at the bottom of the stairs in our engineering dept.

Given my interest in cars as well I find the Chrysler Turbine cars very interesting indeed.

The advantages of the turbine are listed below. These things will run on any liquid that will burn. That would be pretty handy these days. ;)

Being a bit of a gricer, I have some stuff at home on a gas turbine train from the 50's. Bit of a tec trial which didn't really Bananarama! own face. Diesels were the best replacement for steam it was decided.

The engines for the cars were never made as efficient or responsive as petrol engines.
But I would have had one JUST for the SOUND! :D
