This is amazing.

It shows 24 hours of air traffic for the whole globe. Each dot is a flight. You can see the typical transoceanic routes used, etc. Play it a few times, look very closely and you can see theday/night boundary moving and how the intensity of the flights increasesduring daylight around the world. Our current statics show more than21,000 heavy transport airplanes flying world wide and just under 60,000flights per day world wide.
Wow, way cool.

Something like 200 tons of fuel to fly the Atlantic for one 757.
Hundreds of thousands of TONS of pollution every week, most of it put out in the upper atmosphere where it does more damage. Plus the heat emmitted, plus the fact that every gallon burnt equals a gallon of acidic water vapour. And we wonder why there is increased rainfall.

A significant amount of that air travel is for business that could be conducted over the internet using video conferencing and air freighting food to supermarkets, so we can have asparagus in October.

When will common sense prevail?

What global warming?
We've just had the coldest November for 23 years and so far December temps are below average.

Probably because the sea around our coast is flooded with cold water from the melted ice caps.

if the temperature of the seas rises by another degree, the gulf stream will stop hitting us and end up going to iceland
iceland will become mudland

we will have Ice age like winters and the summers will be monsoon.

erm.....its started

the sahara dessert will engulf much of southern spain and italy

I do try to be a ray of sunshine when i can :)

Nice
