1.) Sound of Music (yes, it's true)
2.) Elf (good choice Tony)
3.) It's a wonderful Life (Jimmy Stewart)
4.) Holiday Inn
5.) Oliver Twist (the original one with Ollie Reed as Bill Sykes)

All of the above in no particular order.

"Its a wonderful life" - local cinema shows it every year. We go every year too... bottle of vino-rouge and a dark evening watching old movies. Whats finer than that ?

Not a lot Morgan. Its a Wonderful Life is a great movie. Very sad, and uplifting at the end. Jimmy Stewart was a great actor.

Not such a fan of the Griswald Stuff. I have always thought Chevy Chase is totally crap. Fletch was totally unfunny.

Good choices there.

Another film I can always sit down to watch at this time of year is the original "Die Hard" movie. I always thought that was a good Christmas film in a way.
"Yippie aye yay mother Bananarama!" always has a christmas ring to it I feel.

When i was but a weee boy

Where Eagals dare
Ben Hur (can't stand it but will watch it for the full 4 hours if i'm stuffed)
The posidon adventure (don't climb the christmas tree!!!)
Towering inferno
Italian job
escape to victory

all of which should be interupted by grandparents and uncles you don't know snoring or turning over all the cushions looking for their lighter.... and ya mum insisting you eat dates and brazil nuts turkish delight and other stuff you'd rather not. while ya dad eats about 6lbs of salted pea nuts and gets hacked off with the incomprehensible instructions to some present you got or takes loads of photos before realising no film in the camera.

and then someone insists you all go for a walk.
and you and your dad say No......but still end up going

this is a joy i am planning to inflict on my kids in a few years
