I'm looking for a new car as my old banger runs out of MOT at the end of the month. As I do a bit of Hill Walking and Climbing up in the Hills a 4X4 would be great, but I also need a family run around. I found this 1999 Chevy Blazer for £2000 with All the goodies, Leather, electric everything, tow bar, Met paint, 16'' Alloys ect with 97,000 miles on the clock. Its R/H/D too so the Wife would happily drive her as well.

Anyone on here had any experience with them? I've tried to do a google search but for some reason the filter our company down here in Algeria blocks it as Porn?????

What kind of MPG can I expect to get outta the 4.3 (Vortech I guess??) Is £2k a good price? the dealer's had it for a while and cant shift it, it was £2700. Not the easiest this to flog durng this supposed Credit Crunch. If he still has it when I get home at the end of the Month I'm gonna offer him £1500 :D

Get a Jeep Andy. You could get a nice XJ Cherokee for £2k, and it's a far superior vehicle.

Don`t bother with the bid, doubt he`s gonna come down from £2700 to £1500, the only thing your likely to gain is a flattened nose :D

Don`t bother with that either, jeeps are bad news in the trade, i avoid them like the plague, thats why there cheap nobody wants em ;)

Buy something jap, Shogun / Landcruiser and you won`t go to far wrong, just a bit of free advice mate :thumbright:

Guess I must have been lucky then. I've had 2 XJ's over the last 12 years, and the only part failure was the (Mitsubishi) starter motor.

Don`t get me wrong Adam, not a bad car for the money, there is some bad ones out there but generally ok, i was`nt saying they are a bad car, just a hard sell and they certainly lose money for fun :thumbright:

Thanks for the Head's up guy's! :thumbright: I'm not fussed about the resale value as I never sell a run-around on, I just run it into the ground and get another one! So a Jeep would be a god bet for me then if no one want's them! :D Thats why I was looking at the Blazer. Not sure what a XJ Jeep is to be honest?? Like I say, I cant do any kind of google search as its filtered. I must admit I do like the Grand Cherokee's. I'm gonna pop over to Autotrader and have a looksee.

XJ is the pre 2002 "square" Cherokee Andy, KJ is the frog eyed one that followed. The best Grand Cherokee, IMHO, is the 1999-2005 WJ.

Here's my XJ
