Picked this up on BBD.
Petty Enterprises (PE), the oldest and most successful Cup team in NASCAR history, will close its doors today, laying off its remaining 40 or so employees at its Mooresville, N.C. shop ..................

I'm not really a big NASCAR fan, but that is sad (and indicative!) news anyway.
A shame for any team, but when it's such a big historic name, you could argue it's worse.

Just the same all over,Kawasaki out of Moto GP,Honda out of F1. It's just too expensive, even for the biggest names, the sponsors are feeling the pinch so there's no cash to throw around.
Mind you.Nascar has to be one of the most boring next to F1 these days.

Here's one you can still drive around (albeit round a shortened banked track in WDW - Orlando). Good fun tho.

that definitly gives me the incentive to keep my car a petty and maybe even go further into it making it look more like a nascar than a roadcar

Better driving to Daytona i did it last year unbeleivable feeling hitting the 31 degree banked turns at 150mph would recommend it to anyone was great value when i did it as the dollar was 2:1

Yeah - I imagine a full size track would be more fun (although we were up to 125 mph into the corners). As it was arranged as a surprise for my birthday, I had no say in where it was. Also, the chances of getting on at Daytona are limited to a few per year & we were not there at the right time - maybe next time

I did the Petty Experience at Atlanta and Charlotte in the mid 90's. On the banking, all you can see is the track rushing at you from the top left of the windshield. At 150mph. Awesome
Sad to see them close the doors though
