Had this sent to me just another example of the PC brigade trying to control and ruin what live entertainment we have in our lives.
Example..know this band well ( The Hamsters) one of the best live bands out there. These guys play some great music all over the UK.
Lets have a say in these things...

HAMSTERHEADS.... we'd much appreciate it if you'd kindly sign this petition, the cut-off date is Friday the 23rd January. Also please circulate to your friends: NOISE LIMITERSIt has been brought to our attention that new noise legislation is about to be introduced that is likely to virtually destroy live music in the UK. The government wish to consider it a legal requirement in the new tax year to introduce laws insisting anyone applying or re-applying for an entertainment licence must have a noise control device fitted to the venue. This will be the final nail in the coffin for pretty much ALL entertainment in the UK as the level at which these devices cut the power off is ridiculously low. In our experience any venue that has one in use cannot have any electric music as the power is constantly being cut mid-song - and even loud applause at the end of a song can cut it. Venues are suffering enough as it is without being forced to go to the expense of fitting one of these damned things. Noise limiters are a menace to live music, and we expect this is the bright idea of some unelected suit in Brussels that's never been to a gig in their life. Seeing them in Harlow on the 14th Feb They are doin their Hendrix & ZZ Top set. They do ZZ Top better than ZZ Top do!

Going to the Joe Bonamassa gig at the Albert Hall too although probably wont be as good at the Gig he did in Cambridge - I think you get more at a small gig.

Wanted to do AD/DC, but the ticket prices put me off

I have never heard of a sound level limiting system that just cut all the sound (or power) when at a cirtain db level.

I have heard of sound supression systems that invert the signal so the sound cancels out to some degree. There is no reason you could use a system like that over an audience. Then no matter how loud the band play the effective level over the audience would stay the same.

More use over the bar I would have thought. To protect the staff that work there every night (hearing damage is more likely with long term exposure) and to help you order a pint without shouting at the top of your voice in the barmans ear. I wouldn't be suprised if it was the staff this is aimed at. Rather than people paying to see the gig.

Been around for years, in the 80s , a Rockabilly band i know were the only band able to play at a gig as only they could play acoustically. It was at Bromley town hall, a a ligtht came on if you exceeded the level, the singer kept sayin "Turn that light out" in an ARP style voice. Oh how we laughed.

Stu'n'I are also going to see JB at the Albert Hall - pretty big place for a meet-up tho
Last time was at Shepherds Bush which wasnt as good as the Borderline gigs Hope he steps up a gear for the Albert...

And AC/DC @ O2 & Wembley..... cant beat the initimate gigs eh
