UJ's?

Having discovered my prop has the smaller yokes, I had put a shout out for a large yoke prop. But it occured to me that there maybe stronger small UJs available now. Does anyone know if this is the case? I don't know what the smaller UJs are designed to put up with. It says in the books that they were fitted to the base models, and the larger yokes were on the performance models. What does anyone think?

Post up the predicted HP/torque , can then recommend the correct uj for the job.
If it's a heavy car & the hp/torque exceeds 400/450 then yer gonna need the 1350 Mick sugested.

The strongest type of small UJ are the ones that are not drilled for grease nipples. Small UJ's will be fine for general high performance use, took a mate of mine a couple of years to break one with heavy nitrous abuse and slicks. Also converting to larger UJ's will get very costly, new prop yoke, new prop, new diff yoke, about £500. Very unlikely you'll find usable 2nd hand parts, I never can when I need 'em.

Thanks Blue, you put my mind at ease. It's only going to be the occasional run up the strip, no gas, no slicks. I'll stick with what I've got for now.
Brut, I reckon the motor should be around 425bhp? Maybe a bit more?

These cars were built with around 300 hp @ the crank , i don't think chrysler over engineered there parts to be able to live with much more hp than what came off the production line , will the UJ hold up? , might do might not , are you willing to take a chance? , if it breaks you gotta get the motor on a flat bed home , Alan has broken soooooooo many 8 3/4 axles he could probably of bought 3 Danas , he knows it's on the edge every time he races it , so it's no surpise to him when it's sittin on a low loader, if the $$$$$$$$ tight & you can't afford to upgrade then run it till it breaks , but bear in mind iy WILL break eventually , fit the right parts & sleep happy , as said , time to upgrade parts when building high hp motors.
Gonna make a mess if the UJ lets go , can also send the box through the floorpan , not sayin where the propshaft might end up.
Sayin this , the weak link on the Pit will be the gearbox , if i had the $$$$$$$$$$ i would get it sorted.
