brake s

started bleeding brakes for first time ,having a night merrr, have got a front disc booster conversion ,had a prob with the push rod does not seem to go in far as it should ,using old push rod ,as mp brakes say ,any way bleed brakes and fluid comes out fine again and again and again ,get a pedal but if you leave it for few hours then there is no pedal ,have been on it for days ,given up now ,any ideas ,thanks :banghead: :banghead:

Did you bench bleed the M/C prior to fitting - this is essential. :read2:

when you come back to it & the pedal is spongey & you bleed it again , does air come out ??

Obvious question, but have you gone over and made sure everythings nice and tight and you have no leeks?

no air comes out ,been over every thing 4-5 time s ,im loosing it :help: oh pedal goes right down ,then stops about 2inches of floor, feels hard ,if a pump for 5 mins get a little pedal ,then goes away after 1 hour or so :cry:

I had similar once.

A long shot, but I found that there was air in the calipers, despite continuous bleeding.

I wound the caliper pistons all the way in with a "G" clamp with the bleed nipples open, and loads of air came out. :shock:

A quick re-bleed (after topping the M/C up) and problem solved. :thumbright:

Worth a try, if not a quick test is to clamp off the flexis in sequence to help diagnose the problem area.

Clamp all 3 off in one go and see if you have a pedal pressure that will stay up. Then release one at a time - it is probably best to remove the rear clamp first because if there is no change then you have discounted both rear cylinders in one go....

hello steve ,dont no realy ,as i said mp brakes say to use old push rod but to me it seems to sort ,as it is not adjustable,so going on what they say . :scratch:

wonder if the rod IS too short , would be an idea to measure how long the rod needs to be to fully depress the master cylinder , use a screw driver , then note how far the original push rod depresses the master cylinder ?? that would be what i would look at first .... oh sill question i know but .is it an original disc brake car , are the calipers on the right side as the bleed nipples need to be on the top , others wise , you will never get the air out of the piston , just had another thought !! is it the whole MP servo & master cylinder .... as the push rod & link assembly come with the mp set up :?

hello steve ,the calipers are right way up ,the mp kit came with servo ,and mc ,but no linkage ,have a look to night ,thanks ----- had a good look -today so phoned mp brakes , they said that booster sould come with new push rod ,so there sending one out ,see what happens when i fit it ,thanks :roll:
