ram van trans sliping

hi guys ive got a 1988 dodge ram day van when its cold the transmission slips after its warmed up its ok its a 318 motor with overdrive and lock up auto box dont know which model box it is .Ive checked the fluid when warm and its fine and its not long had new transmission fluid and filter does anyone have any ideas on what i can do to sort out the sliping???????????

I cant answer this but here are a few questions that may help the corect answer come your way.
Whats the fluid like (Colour), how does it smell, what sort of mileage on the box.

Did you adjust the bands when you fitted the new filter?

At the risk of teaching grandmother to suck eggs.... but have you made sure that you've checked the fluid level correctly? With the engine running, emergency brake on, slip the transmission into drive for a few moments then back into park and check it with the engine still running.
Don't forget that you will get different reading with the engine hot and cold.
I'll await being told off by Dunc or Blue for giving you the wrong info!;)

r u sure its slipping, it may be the converter has drained back over night and thats giving the effect off slipping,
next time its started from cold start it up in neautral let it run for say 1 minute then select drive and see what happens, other than that if your level is correct i would say the clutch seals are worn but once warmed up expand enought to apply the clutches correctly,

i did check it right the fluid isnt burnt it smells normal i think dunc is right about it draining back its fine after a minute or so and i dont use it often which might not help its also short trips over here .How often should the bands be adjusted??????
