hello sir

welcome

don't know your area

but any place that isn't a main dealer type place
isn't a kwik fit type place

and is preferably near a load of other car specialists who look after the more elderly motor is going to be best

i specifically chose a place sandwiched between VW beetle and MG place in order to make sure i got a tester that saw a few cars of similar vintage that would be in a damn sight worse condition than mine is.....a tester that starts with oh that's not in bad nick for its age...is a good tester in my book ...pre disposed to seeing the positive side of old car ownership, less likely to try and apply 1980s rules to a 1970s car willy-nilly without ref to the book

it shouldn't make any difference at all, its all now computer controlled....but having had 1 local place (the idiot on the reception desk) just laugh me off the forecourt with that'll never pass...i now use the same place every year and travel to get there.

one of the sections here has a link to the MOT rule book and i think we have some or one member who may be a tester...there will also be plenty of advice if it doesn't go well.

.....they will pull you up about red rear indicators (flashing brake lights) and white front regardless of if it passed previously

and get ya for wrong sized number plate etc if you have crammed the lot into a US sized plate

otherwise take off anything you know is iffy and you can do without...not there, can't be tested.

i always had a "discussion" with the tester when i had a VW van on the merits of the fixings for the front 3/4 bench seat....not clipped in at the back!!!!!!! just the front (by design i might add so you could get the spare tyre out).

so in the end i learned..... it was never there when it was tested

Steve Case will be along in a minute, he's down your neck of the woods and if he can get that pro street 'Cuda MOT'd he obviously knows a place weher the tester has a sense of humour! :D

By the way welcome aboard and show us your D200, we love trucks around here! :thumbright:

Truks rule!!! Had my D100 for yonks now i love it.
I get MOT'd at a garage with a pit as my mirror frames are too sticky-out to fit onto a normal 4-post lift.
