Side markers or reflectors

Hi,

Can someone explain why both the front amber and rear red side markers on our Satellite are just reflectors and actually have no bulbs, nor any apparent facility to take bulbs ?

Nor is there any wiring present for bulbs ?

Shouldn't they have bulbs ?

A bit confused here as our '69 Ford had lights, and our '69 Plymouth doesn't.

69s only have reflectors , Chrysler found a loop hole in the law ... for having iluminated side marker lights ..& got away with reflectors for 69 , cost cutting

Thanks, Steve.

Are 1970 Plymouth markers illuminated then, and the same as 1969's ?

Steveo only the one built in the USA. 1969 cars built for the European market had illuminated side markers not reflectors

our 69 Sport Satellite was built for export and it only has reflectors, as described by Sandy, ie has what appears to be a bulb holder on the rear with no wiring to it.....

.... think so anyway, havent looked behind there for quite a while!

Agree about the 69/70 transition from reflectors to side markers tho.

Both my 1968 coronets and all the 1969 darts that I bought in Belgium had working side marker lights but both front and back lenses were red

Hi Sandy,i must go and check my Cobra now and see if the side markers work? that's funny as i have not noticed them until now! :D i always thought they should not be working for UK law anyway?and if they do they should be amber only.

One good thing about my Falcon is it has no side markers.

Hi Tony,

They work :D

The fronts are built in to the wrap around front marker lights. The rears are separate.

The (Aus) Falcon is the same at the front as the Cobra but has combined red and amber rear markers.

Steveo its all factory. The problem is that a lot of mopar were assembled in Belgium. They have there own type of vin number as well. They had better suspension RT, GTS etc. and the sixes even had 4 speeds. Its the imported ones that are the same as the USA ones

i see ..
good info Dave :thumbright:
i knew something about the Belgium challengers ..didn't they have a only the last 7 digits of the vin , as the final speck of the car was not decided when the unfinished car was shipped to Europe , think sweden also sold challengers new ?? , could be getting mixed up with something else ! it normaly happens :?
wonder how many were sold ...don't suppose its worth investigating all the scrap yards over there ..would of thought them cars are long gone :(

So are the side reflectors required by UK law or can I delete them? :read2:
