Best mates wedding or The Nats?

One of my closest friends has rather selfishly organised his wedding for Saturday 25th July which is of course right in the middle of the Nats weekend.

I am torn between my mate and the blood oath I swore to myself last year that I would be at the Nats '09 come hell or high water.

I put it to you, although I'm pretty sure I know what the board will say(!)

My brother got married the weekend of the 2002 Nats . As I am quite local , I went over on the Friday , left after the cruise , and returned early Sunday morning nursing the hangover from Hell , and promptly had a microphone stuffed in my face for the video . Anyway , my brother has just got divorced recently , and I wish I'd stayed the whole weekend !!!! The Nats only happens once a year , other peoples weddings just ain't that much fun !!!!!!!

Wedding, sorry mate

Why not bring them all down on the friday and have the stag do in the evening with all this lot, then drag his sorry arse home saturday morning for the day's event, then return yourself on the sunday :thumbright:

Just a thought :dontknow:

..... honestly tho, you can't miss your best mate's wedding... the Nats happens every year.

i sort of agree with andy, if you dont do his wedding he wont forgive you, positive side to that is you wont be asked to be a god parent, you wont need to remember to send him birthday or xmas cards, you wont get asked to pop over every year for the aniversary drinks with lots of old folk :D apart from that i supose you could just do a couple of other race meets or shows ( do a deal with the other half(they like weadings) so you can do every other meet this year :D

2 years ago my pals granda selfishless had a 50th wedding av partly the same weekend as lemans, so de didnt go but we did keep phoneing him & senting pics to show what he was missing & I think we'll be doing the same to you unless you make sure he get caught with another lass before then

it all depends on how much you value his freindship.............. you could alway supply the wedding car ?

I would do the wedding. Stay sober. Drive down that night straight after the speeches.

Chances are you are not going to end up slipping the bridesmaid a length anyway so why hang around?

I have driven to the Pod many a time on a whim at 2 or 3am after the Mayfair rock night. Quick half hour kip half way and you will be right as rain.

See you for breakfast on the Sunday. ;)

Go to the wedding mate. people are more important and you need to share days like that with those that matter (like best mates).

I look forward to the Nats every year, but in the same boat, it wouldn't need much thinking about. Sorry.

I'm in very nearly the same boat!!! My mates wedding is at least on the Friday, but that means I'll miss the caravan from Swindon to the pod which I personally think is all part of the whole weekend (nothing like a good group of mates cruisin and looking out for each other)

The problem is for me to salvage the rest of the Nats week end will mean a very early start on Saturday morning, which will mean very little drinking at the reception :( Not that I'm a big drinker but ya know what I mean.

It's a tough poll you've got going on here, your mates are your mates end of, but when it clashes with the one main event of the year................
