Poll!

The fact so many people have decided not to renew there membership for financial reasons has got me wondering whats happening to the MMA. I dont believe all the plea's of poverty are genuine but I do believe most of them are. I also think £27 is a lot to stump up in one go for people who want to stay members but cant justify it. Ie dont own a Mopar just now, wont make any shows this year etc etc. I want to stay a member as I will be a Mopar owner again within 12 months but with my move to Norway I'm gonna be mega skint untill I get my self sorted out over here.

Where does all the money that comes from Membership's go? I understand its not all on Running this site and Connected but do we really need to advertise for new members so much when we are loosing grass roots members? I also understand that debating on the need or want of Connected must be demoralizing for the people who do such a good job of making it each month but I firmly believe we should be given the option to opt out of receiving it if it meant a reduced membership renewal or at least the opportunity to debate on weather we should have the opportunity to opt out.

I know some/most people are gonna take this poll as self serving or see it as Andy being on the Wind up but that is not true. So please vote honestly.

Even in these tough times I really don't see how 50p a week can be considered a lot of money. It costs more than that for a bag of crisps. Or Sunday dinner as Scotish kids call it.

But there is not an option to pay 50p a week is there? Maybe if there was we would keep more members? Or even £2.00 a month! :D

Think I'm gonna be living on your Scottish Sunday Dinners for the foreseeable future. I'm even thinking of getting Food Parcels flown over!

As I said elsewhere on here,£27 is less than quarter of a tank of fuel. Which can easy be burnt in 30 mins :D

So basically..because you only use half the benefits of membership, you want a cheaper rate at the expense of the people who only use the other half of the benefits :thumbright:

but of course...they cant vote in this poll can they?

I'm guessing the greater the number of Mags produced brings down the overall cost and thus makes each copy cheaper and is infact the real reason we are not offered the option not to receive it. The cost of running the Forum must pale into insignificance compared to running full colour spreads in glossy Mags. ;)

i didnt even know there was a mag until it arrived in the mail, and then i got a memb. card, its all bonus to me

,it does cost something to make it out of paper, and ink,and such.

there several gaming servers that charge a fee to join(although i prefer to play for free),

but its not un common for these servers to charge a fee, its not that much to me to have a smooth , moderated system that i can look at from day to day , so i use it,and its worth it to me, but thats just me

i am on severall other forums and you dont have to pay to be on them, but they are no busier than this one so it is not a matter off money, that makes a site busy,
i am not bothered about the connected mag, but dont mind the cost anyway

I didnt realise that connected was posted to overseas members- no problem with that of course.. but is it reflected in overseas membership or is it the same?

Slightly off topic I see Classic American is now available as a downloadable subscription

http://www.classic-american.com/zinio.html

same cost as a paper subscription- will be interesting to see how that pans out

I have no idea what difference it would make financially, but I used to like Connected more when it was just a photocopied fanzine.
I appreciate the time and effort that must go into producing the very professional magazine we have now - but I wonder if it is justified...
