The MMA at The Classic Car Show NEC 12-15 Nov 2010

Now that the Nats is over and the dust has settled, we need to start looking forward to The Classic Car Show at the NEC!

This year we have a long, thin stand against the wall, which due to the size of our cars, may limit it us to four cars or maybe five and they can't all be A bodies and heaven knows what we'll do if we have offers of loads of C bodies!

Anyway, over the coming weeks I need to know who amongst the MMA members would be willing to exhibit their car (or cars) this year, so we can look at perhaps creating a theme, though the broad mix of cars we had last year proved very successful.

If you would like to offer your car, please remember that we all do this on a volunteer basis and at our own cost, so I'm afraid the club can't afford to pay for transporters and five star hotel accommodation!

Whether your car is a daily driver, a racer, original and unrestored, restored or even half way though a restoration, don't be shy, it could well be of interest to visitors to the show, so please let me know, so I can start putting together a list over the next couple of weeks and design a stand.

The theme of the Classic Car Show this year is record breakers so I have to say that we can safely include race cars without fear of anyone moaning that they may not be representative of the club! ;)

Just to add to Ivor's post, I highly recommend taking the oppertunity to show your car, if it is available for you to do so.

A very enjoyable weekend, bonding with the other clubs, members and fellow stand members. The public show fgenuine interest and you can spend hours passing yourselves off as mopar guru's :-) On top of that, you wont see a better selection of cars / bikes to wow, or just to send you back down memory lane.

Well worth the effort. :thumbright:

I did it last year and would do it again no problem.

It was great being able to talk to people not completely familiar with our type of cars and educate them a little in order to dispel some of the myths and bias some members of the car community have against our cars.

It was also good to get into Birmingham on the high speed rail link now and again. The city has a lot to offer these days and is a great night out at that time of year with the Christmas lights up and everything.

The best bit though is the occasional visitor to the show that is really enthusiastic about Yank motors but has never owned one. You can really make these (usually young) people's day by letting them have their photo taken with (or better IN) your car.

It all helps to keep the hobby growing. ;)

They were less impressed with your "Starsky and Hutch" car because it was not painted the right colour. ;)

I think a good range of cars is always to represent the club, regardless of theme. I'd like to say my car is avaliable but I'm not sure I will be. I'd love to be there so will check out with work to see if I can get time off.

The Ibis looks like good value though.

....well can I be the first to say that if anyone at all bothers their butt to support this, I would like to object as the club clique has obviously feathered its own nest by picking the same old faces and cars.

Its the same thing every year, no one new gets a look it.

Sorry, no one has offered their support yet. My bad.

If we get stuck, I'll bring my old wagon. Should be fun to see who slags it for being theire 2 years in a row ;), especially when there were so many other great cars to choose from.

happy to stick my old shed on there again :)

had a bit of interest last year
and it was fun playing spot the (facial deformity,Budgie, interesting kagool, Black G-string white cotton trousers, vistors to the gay car stand) (delete as appropriate) as the crowd passed by

i'll bring a hammer and some 78s for the record breaking

fastest production 5 seater (discount the porches) 6 cylinder (discount just about everything else fast) production car produced anywhere from 1971-1994 when it was knocked off the top spot by some Holden commode (could they be anymore specific about the requirments necessary to qualify for this record :) )

I can't see me having its engine out and replaced this side of christmas the way i'm going....

so all should be good provided the Mrs isn't working

will float the idea......

didn't want to dash right in going me me me me when i had my bit of limelight last year.......

clivey not a case of people not wanting to..... its a case of people not wanting to look like they want to.

too eager and needy doesn't work with the girls (as you know)

thus it aint cool in this siutation either

Don't worry, you are on the hit list Steve! ;)

And thank you Dave...always excellent entertainment at the show and your car attracted some real interest.

And the occasional weirdo.

So come on guys and girls the show is open to everyone, don't be afraid to put your hand up...or if you are, drop me a PM and I promise to keep your identity a secret!
