Back in the late 70's I was on the way to a race-meet, probably Silverstone, when I saw the Brite Green Superbird on the North-Circular near Staples Corner.
It blew my doors orf and I went straight over to the Chiswisk Carbook shop and bought this little GEM!!!
Original 64 Plymouth book!!!

The rest is History!

for me it was the artfull dodger challenger from the custom car shows and also seeing them at the pod with my dad mid 70-s i knew that was the type car i would have to have,
first entry to owning one was a aussie 770 charger was roughly 18 no way could i afford a 68-70 back then never liked the aussie one but it really kicked the mopar job in i suppose, then i saw a yellow/primrose 68 at a show it was driven by a group off punk rockers anyone know the car...... that got me on the quest for a real charger the rest is history

Sorry... but I bet I am not alone.

Mine started when my mate Whitt bought a 69 rt charger & took me out in it. Damn thing felt like a rocket taking off.

Wayyyy back in 81 i saw a couple of rockabillys driving a BLACK 69 chrysler vailant , asked him if he wanted to sell it.......bought it for £600 , had it for a couple of years & sold it when i mortgaged the first house , was only 18 years old. , got back into it a good few years later , maybe a mistake.

OMG! John Jemmet got you into Mopars! The car was nice, but he is a Bananarama!!

I bought the LFN 7 Charger from Dream Cars in 1990.

Then the plate had changed to 'YOR 440', put on by Big Lee in the late 80's.
Sold the Charger in 92 and its now in NY State somewhere?

The plate is on the wife's PUG! (thats not a DOG)

Rumour has it that LFN won the first 'Gary's Picnic' ???

I too remember seeing the Superbird in the front garden of a house on the north circular. Think i may have a photo of it somewhere with one of its headlight pods stuck up. Small world Bacca Im with Morgan though it was the Duke boys that hooked me with B bodies and the Mopar scene Yeeeee Haaarrr

After owning a few American cars from the age of 20, crappy cars like a '92 Mustang Convertible and a '77 Mustang and a couple of other odd balls I seen a Sunfire Yellow Aussie Charger for sale on eBay. It was billed as the Aussie cousin to the Dodge Charger, which I loved due to DoH (obviously ) So I flew down to London and drove it back to the Aberdeen area. I was told by the seller to contact the MMA so I did and the rest, to many people's annoyance on here is history. That was when the old MMA website was running. How long ago was that now?

It did mate, beat a well tuned mustang a few times. Gary didnt even have a prize for fastest car then. I think it was Garys picnic when Witt got nicked on the M1 for speeding & i mean realy speeding.

Had a tatty 76 vette in the late 80's & going to the show's seein all the b bodies & 60's mustangs done if for me including:

doncaster custom car show with the 'sheffield massive' b body's lined up in the hall

Tonys o's bird @ donington

Dave B's GTX @york when he first got it

Americana @ donington when Les Pirin had just painted his charger dayglow & paul whats his name had his mint black 70 charger there before he dayclona'ed it

In the north east there used to be a mint gold 68-69 coronet that went to all the shows & I remember going paint balling in my capri & one lad from morpeth had muti coloured, purple/yellow ? challenger & could not believe how fast it was !


& of corse sitting watching the bullit car chase over & over on betamax

Seeing a certain Red '66 Coronet for sale at the NSRA nats. Then went for a blast in it with the owner and Steve Neimantis.

Seeing a '70 Cuda at Knebworth when looking for a first Generation Camaro.

Seeing Steve Tucker's Superbird (Now in Scandanavia).

Swapping my 3 year old Firebird formula V8 for a '71 Barracuda convertible....meeting Blue and getting converted to drag racing...........

Back in 89 I was thinking about getting a yank and had been to look at a few camaros/Firebirds but nothing to float the boat. Was sitting at a junction one sat afternoon when Mick Hodges (mick 70 RR) came past the end of the road in his pale yella 70 Coronet GAL4J (since went to Germany) and I liked the look of it so I followed him till he pulled up @ his in laws and we had a chat and he said if he heard of anything decent for sale he would call me.Well that was it,I wanted one like his,he called me late one fri evening and told me of a 70 Coronet 4 sale in Halifax, 7 oclock sat morn I was on my way to buy the car I then went on to own for over 19 years from Dave Honour. It was well scruffy but was up & running and had a V8 all for £1500 notes,or one and a half clap in todays money..... Cheers MICK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
