That is the best explanation I have seen ever.
I even learned something there if what they say, about needing 40-50lbs of torque on the pinion to get the correct pattern, is correct.
In the past I have just pushed a bit of rag in and or leaned on the ring to produce some resistance. Didn't know you needed that much load.

Very good, although his definition of Backlash is a bit weird.
Degree of movement between gears before drive is engaged is much more straight forward.

Me too- when i did mine i couldn't get that defined a pattern, now i probably know why.
