Well done

thought you had a real weapon there
So how is the rust done? you must have added some texture to it to make it a rough surface? is it Umberol type model paint used?

If its the same product I have used this in model making for a few years now the one I use has three parts and you apply one part at a time and it forms real rust. Jem you dry brush work looks fantastic

The product is called 'Rost Effektlack'. As you've most probably guessed it's German. Made by a company called Profiautolacke. Not cheap by any means - from memory about £80 for half a litre. It's got the consistency of thick treacle and gray in colour.
Took me ages to get the hang of the stuff. Needs thinning down with thinners to make it manageable.
The instructions say to leave it and let it do it's own thing but seeing as I'm the impatient type I accelerated the process by dousing it in a heavy saline solution.
After I did the gun I wanted to take the stuff to it's limits and see what I could achieve.
My next project was the 'Space Jockey' from Alien. Took me over six weeks to do and I have to say that I'm pleased with the results. Hard to tell from the pics but it's over 15" tall and was a real labour of love.
After constantly dousing and washing off the saline solution I left the last two coasts on and left it to dry. Got a great effect as the salt crystallized.
