Probably a bit late now but i have just bought a Blue Ray Player

but it does not play Blue Ray 3D for another £30 i could have got the latest model with 3D but i did not do my reaserch it was an impulse buy.
I do not have a TV anyway but i do have a projector to watch the movies. It will also do full HD 3D if i had the player
I do not own any 3d movies and I would not pay what they charge for the 3D movies in HMV
But i can hire them from Blockbuster, more interested in hire only
I was curious to know but do any of you have Blue Ray 3D? am i missing much? what do you think of it?

Had a 3D Blu ray player and a TV with 3D for over a year now, never used it once!! Bought it as a package , and it was on sale so didn't pay any extra for it. My son seems to enjoy it though.

We use the Blue Ray via our son's PS3
Stuff paying out for a unit when we've already got 1

have 3d telly but no specs and my blue ray player is 2 years old
3d seems to be standard on sonys over about 30 inch now
sister has 3d telly and 3d blue ray
its quite good although all of us switch back to normal viewing after about 1/2 an hour....
decent picture quality and decent sound is all you need and you won't ever get decent sound from a flat screen TV
i'm not going chasing 3d
its nice but its not like the swap from black and white to colour or indeed silent to spoken films...
its a novelty at the mo.
you are not missng something that is a must have yet
give it 3 years or so
Dave

Closer to the Edge was only £1 more for the 3D Blu Ray AND DVD than just the DVD at Tescos and Play.com etc!

I agree with Dave, "its a novelty at the mo"
I did loads of research before buying my TV & Blu ray player & decided wearing shades to watch TV is something that would wind me up & it doesn't add much to the viewing experience in my humble opinion.

The technology is out there already for "no glasses" with the Nintendo 3DS.
Got our daughter 1 for xmas.
It's actually really good.
They just need to now make it larger for TV's instead of small consoles.
It won't be long now

Hi T, got the LG 3D jobbie that uses the cheapy passive cinema style glasses - no batteries , no flashing lights, no rip-off costs. Only watched a couple of films in 3D, but I'm easily pleased and was impressed with the 3D. Looks like most current 3D films are just 3D enhanced - they just give the impression of depth of field. Seen some 3D sporting clips which are incredible. Saw 3D Pirates of Caribean, had the field depth but not wild apart from ocasional swords coming out the telly at you. That Beowulf film was damn good in 3D, saw in 2D orginally. EDIT: thinking bout it, praps it was 2D and I liked it better on the new BIG flat telly?
Moved up from an ancient 28" CRT, so with a BIG flat TV transforms everything anyway for me. Emmerdale....wonderful

Thanks for the Replies,i went to the Cinema to see Avitar (that looked good in 3d) Alice in Wonderland (looked Good in 3d) the last i saw was Tron Legacy in 3d at the Cinema (also good)
Are they a patch on them? most people i speak to prefer them in 2d there are also a lot of poor movies in 3D! and experts say that it could ruin 3d Hollywood are converting poor films into 3d that were 2D originally and they are a poor product. You can not polish a Turd as they say
So only the true filmed in 3d from day one sound any good.

Some people cannot see these 3D films or TVs. It just does not work for them. Something to do with the way their eyes are wired compared to the "norm".
Other people really feel ill watching them. Dizzy, headaches, queasy, feeling like travel sickness.
I have heard that most 3D TVs do not produce as good a 2D image as a regular 2D screen.
For an Audio Visual technician I am embarrassed about how little I know about 3D TVs to be honest. But at my age I struggle to keep pace with the stuff I need to know for my job let alone this stuff for the home market. Although it has been suggested here that 3D might be useful for anatomy and surgical demonstrations.
I don't even have surround sound at home.
I am quite happy with my 46" Sony LED flatscreen and Linn stereo system thank you. They do me.
