Help me choose which car

Post by Guy »

I am looking at buying a new car as my trusty old Rover is coming to the end of its life and also hopefully I will be towing the Dart about later in the year which the Rover is not up too as all the suspension is very 180,000 mile tired.

I have been looking about lately and have settled on either a 300c wagon or Jeep G/C 2.7 both in a desiel flavor. the J/G/C has better towing abilities but uses more fuel while the 300c is better on fuel also it looks better and is cheaper to tax and insure but not sure if it is up to towing the Dart about on a trailer :?

This is going to be my daily and I have about £8000 to spend and now only cover less than 10,000 miles per year. I also need an estate.

I have been :read2: up a bit on these

Jeep max towing weight braked 3360kg combined fuel consumption of 29.1

300c max towing weight braked 2000kg combined fuel consumption of 34.9

What do you recon :help:

Love the 300c`s Guy so have voted for that but in all honesty dont know to much about either. Also good mileage on the 300 if at all accurate

Martin was pleasantly surprised when he bought a diesel Jeep at how good it was on fuel...though his previous petrol one only did about 12 mpg!
The pump don’t work coz the vandals took the handles.

Yes I got 40mpg from the 2.7 Jeep on a trip to Scotland Guy, just over 20mpg around town.

If I was doing it again I'd get a Discovery TD5 as my mate across the road has all the diagnostic equipment. I haven't been able to find diagnostic kit that works for the Jeep under about £600 and it is a pain. There's another thread on here discussing the same problems. I expect the Chrysler will be the same. (And both the Jeep and 300C will lose money like it's going out of fashion).

Had a look at these before Xmas....OK.

They do a 3.0 CDTi, which don't command stupid prices but are rare!

Couldn't make my mind up so..........I then went and bought a V6 MG Estate............ !

If i'd had the funds it'd be the 300C out of the two your looking at.

I found this http://www.obd2.mobi/V-CHECKER-V301-OBD ... -2061.html it list both Jeep and Chrysler it also allows you to clear DTC which is handy. :thumbright:

Unfortunatly I dont like Disco's or Defenders so thats an avenue I wont be exploring.

Nice Moggy

The plate is probably worth more than the 300 would cost me :)

300C Guy. Took a spin in one a few weeks ago (although it was the 6.1 Hemi). It was a nice car & the interior is comfortable & a nice place to be. :thumbright:

Plus you can get the windows blacked out & spend the weekends pimping! :rr:
