No, not a Blues number about cooking some popcorn in a valley!
A friend who has a '73 Bacaruda wiv 440 has some problems with his valley pan popping up during the 1/4. I diagnosed blocked breathers. He has now removed the foam that was in the caps on the r/covers leading to the breathers. It was recently reringed and honed. Any other ideas?

I would guess breathers not coping with the pressure, may also be a bit of blow by if the rings have not bedded in?

That's my other thought, I said about blow by as even if the breathers are well clogged I would have thought the pan would have held. Then he told me about the rering/hone. The only other one I've seen popped was Philth's 400 when he left his fan belt at the line on a banzai 4 speed pass. (Hot? You Betcha!) He poked it back down and stuck his screwdriver through it; DOH! Praise the lord for RTV!

Only crankcase pressure is all that can do it so find the source of the pressure.
If the engine is not boiling and streaming from every joint then it has to be blow-by from the pistons. The breathers or PCV system must not be working.

If the catch cans are sealed or have small vents that's his problem.
