If you like the idea of it how about a 60s Dodge camper?

In the UK no mater where you are you are never more than about 70 miles from the beach :thumbright:

Looks like a good turn out!!! :thumbright:

Have to say i personally don't get the whole camper thing.

Not bad looking as vans go, and understand the history/engine part but would never ever pay the fees they command.

Prefer the Beetle/Karmann Ghia as a package, but never had the VW itch.

Would rather have the American Ford/Dodge variants of the same era and save a few ££££'s

Yeah, if I didnt have the polara I would love an old dodge camper van, much more than a vw..... Well both if I could! Good article about them in classic american this month....

And everywhere in Britain except Brum... Couldnt be any more landlocked. Nearest is Weston Super Mud, not quite the surf capital of the UK. Devon and back a couple of tanks minimum. Any wonder I want to move to Cornwall!!!!!

Cheers Steve

Great pics as ever Si - you da man! :)

We just came back from a week in Cornwall and my lad kept count of all the 'old' (first & second generation I think they're called :? ) campers he saw and got up to 68 by the time we got back

Only 1 buggy and a handful of Beetles tho...

Just sold my type2 van. Best thing I ever did. Looked nice and was very fast so had fun with it but was a money pit.

it was a great turn out, we just went for a couple of ours first thing, when we left at midday the queues to get in were unreal, and I bet there was as many old VW buses in the car park as there was in the show!! :thumbright:

it’s a nostalgia thing for me, my old fella had a 1970 VW camper in the early 70’s, white with a parallel lift roof, we had some great holidays, touring Wales, Devon, Cornwall ... :thumbright:

cheers, still using that £50 snapper

there’s certainly plenty of old VW's about, there’s a couple of companies round here that hire them out for holidays, probably not cheap but maybe a more realistic alternative to shelling out £30k+ for on e of your own
