A12 Super Bee mechanical Six Pack

I thought I'd post a couple of pictures of the Bee.

It has a mechanical 6 pack conversion by "Six Paks to Go" in the 'States; which I believe has been frequented by a certain Mr. Robson.......

The outboards have pumpers installed and a mechanical linkage, but the vacuum diapragms are still used as the springs are used to close the throttle blades. The vacuum pipes have been removed and plugged....

Also in some of the shots you can see the hood pins that Will was asking about:

The biggest problem has been getting enough fuel in it at idle whilst ensuring the centre mixture screws still work.

Had to resort to Blue's trick of sticking in a too high Power Valve so it is actually open at idle. This resulted in my managing to drop the tickover from 1100 rpm to a mere 700 rpm to ensure smooth engagement of gears without stalling or convertor dragging (its a 9.5" Lupo Dynamics one).

Next trick is to try and dial in more advance to clean the exhaust up a bit if possible without advancing the torque curve excessively.....

Yes i had to use the metering block from a 850DP as I couldn't get the stock six pack one to work.
Even then I had to do some drilling of the metering block to get more fuel in at idle.
And that was with just 440 inches and a bit of a lumpy street/strip cam. That engine you have there is an animal in comparison.

Aye, more to do; but I am making progress - Dave has been assisting behind the scenes (Thanks!!!!).

The car will easily spin the rear 12.5" Mickey Thompsons in third at 3000 rpm, and that is without flooring it. Not the greatest car in the wet..............At the Pod it would spin the rears in 2nd with 5 in the car in the dry.........

It is a 528ci on a 4 bolt Mega Block, Eagle crank and Rods with Ross forged pistons, Stage IV aluminium heads, and a Comp Cams roller cam.

According to the Desk Top Dyno it produces in the region of 653bhp..........makes the standard 4.10:1 gears a bit pointless............. :roll:

When finances permit I would like to fit an AEM AFR meter - I genuinely don't think you can set this up without an Air Fuel Ratio meter.

I will probably talk to Mr Worman for one of his custom brackets to save me welding the TTI's up.... ;)

The outboards are adjustable for idle mixture but you have to take them off to do it - hence LOTS of trial and error....I have got to the point that if I blank off any of the air bleeds the rpm stays constant so it can't be too far off......yeah, right...... :roll: ;)

1. Question you have no brake booster. I take it your running an adaptor 2 pin to 4 pin on bulkhead. Disc on front with 11/10 inch drums on rear ?

Your car must go like the clappers but does is stop ??

Yes.
A blanket is an essential item to carry with you all the times.

Cover the roof with the blanket (and hope it does not blow off.... :roll: ).
Undo the hood pins.
Pick the blanket off the floor, and place it on the roof again............
Stand at the front of the car and grab the scoop with one hand.
Lift off the pins, grab the front of the hood with your other hand and place the hood on the blanket from the side of the car.
Try not to beat your forehead to death on the hood if you get in the car to start it.
Try not to drive off with the hood still on the roof of the car :roll:
Simples........ ;)

Oooh. Doesn't sound too bad. Have you any idea what the hood weighs? 10Kg maybe?

No idea, but a LOT heavier than that.
This is not a "Racing" thickness hood - it is really solid; probably goes about 30Kg.........quite hard at full stretch.....putting it back on ACCURATELY is the hard part...........
