is my 440 running rich?

the 440 in my charger has a holley 750 vac sec. i never have to use the choke to start her when she is cold, in the cold weather i have to give the throttle a few squirts to get her to start then keep feathering the throttle until she is warm, but in this warm weather she starts straight up even if she has been standing for a few weeks and idles nicely right away, so i was wondering if she is running rich, but the plugs seem a nice colour, what do you all think? juice is expensive enough as it is especialy in a 440 so i dont want to be wasting it!!!

jets sizes in the carb or running rich won't make the slightest difference to whether it starts from cold or not as the jets alone can never be big enough, hence the choke flap or as you say the accelerator pump.

the pump is always the better option, just enough fuel to warm it up not drown it as with the choke... not good

if it won't start with a couple of pumps and then some more to keep it running then it's not set up right

Sounds like fairly normal procedure to me!

mines the same, fires up instantly then just feather the throttle for a few seconds and she'll idle as normal.
