Rear Drums and Weights

Need some advice!

My rear brake assemblies (10x2.5) turned up today from the states. Both have brand new internal components and drums. The backing plate is original and has been cleaned and powder coated black. Look sreally good!

Was like a kid at Christmas until someone pointed out the counter weight on the front face of one of the drums (to busy looking at the shiney internal parts).

I'll take pictures tonight and post so you can see, but in all honesty it just doesnt look right to me. I'm not talking the small weights you get on wheels for balancing. Its about three inches in length and about 8mm in dia. It follows the contour of the drums outer raised face.......????

The other drum has nothing on it, just the drum as one would expect!

Has anyone seen anything like this before or care to advise.........

Just want to know your thoughts before contacting the seller!

Cheers,

Dave

all i can think of is that its a weight to offset the bloody big hole in the half shaft flange that allows you do undo the axle retaining plate...

pictures may shed more light

You often see weights on drums. They are ballanced. Don't worry about it.

Remember drums are CAST. They are never going to be cast perfectly.

The weights is slightly lower than the mating face, so no issues with mounting wheels!

What do you guys think?
