Finally decided to start a thread as things are moving on the car.
Bought back in April last year after spotting it about a year before going green outside a house with a blown gear box.
Shipped it down to GS autos not knowing if any thing worked or not on the car ( it ran !).
The gearbox was shot and has been completely rebuilt with a few upgrades ( tell more later ). It has just been fitted.
The brakes have been overhauled and it is also getting new track rod ends and idler arm. Lights all seem to work but unsure on other stuff such as heaters etc.
I'm hoping soon to mot the car and then really get stuck into the cleaning / repairing and upgrading etc.
the car has had some previous mods as follows.
Holley 4 barrel
Hooker headers linked to flowmasters
Weiand intake manifold.
727 box
8 3/4 posi out back
Seats recovered in leather.
Shiney ( when new !) engine bits.
Etc.
I've also changed the horrible chrome wheels for some black rimmed magnums ( thanks Richard and Steve ) with original centre caps.
The car had sat for about 4 years in which time the rear window seal had let in water causing a bit of rust. Nothing too serious but I have sealed it back up using a good quality sealant until the whole body work gets addressed. She has a few scrapes and knocks but as a whole is very solid especially underneath.
I plan to use the car almost on a daily basis if poss and as a bit of a work in progress.
There we go. That's basically it so far so here's a few pics to keep you lot happy !!!

Great stuff Gary, its finally on the ramp. Wont get done with Paul sitting down though :)

I was looking at the Black version of the Chrome wheels you had on the car, but getting them powder coated dark blue as Petty did sport dark blue wheels too.

Anyway car looks good mate very clean

Good work Gary and thanks for posting the pics an info.... Great looking car!

It might be worth having a good look at the diff bolts... I found a perfeck shiny little aluminium tag on one of them that had 2.76 punched onto it. You may also find the round 'suregrip' tag aswell if you are lucky!

I personally wouldnt be in a rush for the 440. Have some fun in her mate, couple of years of daily use while you source the big fella.....shes there to enjoy at last!

Looks lovely and straight, nice, original interior, and the wheels look great... Love it Gary! Good luck with the MOT and happy fettling

Cheers Steve
