Here is the event details in a readable format.

Dear Fellow Classic Vehicle Enthusiast

The 20th Classics on the Common – Wednesday, 31 July 2013

This year we celebrate our 20th Classics on the Common and invite you to join us in Harpenden on Wednesday, 31 July.

Changes for 2013 For safety reasons and to ease exit problems we will this year be reducing the maximum number of 4-wheel vehicles from 1200 to 1050. As this reduction in vehicle numbers, together with additional costs, could expose us to making a loss on the event should bad weather lead to its cancellation, we regret having to make two further changes. First, the ticket donation for 4-wheel vehicles has been raised to £8 and, second, should the event be cancelled the ticket donation for all vehicles will be non-refundable.

2013 Application If your vehicle is 20 years old or older, please complete the ticket application overleaf and forward it with an SAE and a cheque for your £8 donation made payable to ‘HVRC Trust’. Additional application forms are available from our website.

Motorcycles and scooters – changes ahead For this year, motorcycles and scooters will again be parked in the Baa Lambs area. Entry, as usual, will be via the main entrance opposite the Silver Cup public house. Pre-booked tickets (£4 ticket donation) will have priority entry. Looking ahead to 2014, also for safety reasons we will be extending the 20-year minimum age and advance booking requirements that apply to 4-wheel entrants to cover motorcycles and scooters.

Start time The popularity of the 2.00 pm start time and its help in reducing traffic congestion have encouraged us to continue opening at this time in 2013. But please note that no entry to the Common will be allowed before 2.00 pm.

Plaques This year the free souvenir plaque will be available at the Control Point for all entrants on a first-come, first-served basis. But you must produce your entry pass.

Charity Thanks to the generosity of owners, spectators and our advertising sponsors – and splendid weather on the day – we raised more than £19,000 for charity in 2012. A helpful slice of that amount came from the tax man after many owners ticked the Gift Aid box on the application form. That simple tick added 25p for every £1 of ticket money donated without any extra cost to owners. So may we urge you to tick the Gift Aid box again this year? Our main beneficiaries in 2013 will be

• Herts Air Ambulance – for details see hertsairambulance.uk.com
• The Samaritans (local branch) – for details see lutonsamaritans.org
• Keech Children’s Hospice – for details see keech.org.uk
• WaterAid – for details see wateraid.org.uk

Yours sincerely

Richard

We'll prob just visit in the daily, Matt - we've found it too awkward getting there at a reasonable hour without sitting in long traffic jams, so will make do with being a cheapskate spectator, looking at all the cars that owners have paid to get on the common.... :?

Talking of which - i got 2x tickets for Luton Hoo (July 10th) a couple of weeks ago. Didnt get round to starting a thread on that yet tho. Hopefully get both cars there this year

last year we just cruised the strip a few times then found a spot behind the pub to park and watch all the cars leaving, way more fun than wandering round a field of parked cars, and as you say you have to get there so early now its a day off work job. i think i read somewhere they have reduced the number of cars this year

Looks like the forecast rain is staying away today (dont blame me if it changes its mind tho!) so we'll pop up/down there for a couple of hours.

See ya'll there...

Great night as always, James and Mark had their own paddock for the Demon.

Not sure if James was deliberately trying to make Wendy spill the jug of Pimms by revving the Demon?

Good to see Gavin and family, and Dave, and the twins.

Same time next year with a day off work to bring a Mopar, rather than be Joe Public

There were no jugs spilt in my car I'll have you know ;) not in front of the crowds anyway

Great afternoon and evening with plenty of time to wash and polish two cars on the green

Finally got round to sorting thru these... Not that many as we only got there around 6.30 and the place was rammed! So much for restricting the entry numbers and charging the public for 'entry'... it seemed as busy as ever.

Cloudy evening meant it got dark a bit earlier than it would have done otherwise - hence the grainy pics towards the end.

Nice to meet up with Gavin (Mr Norm) & family, Matt & family, (Demon)James & his muzzy mate Mark, Morgan and his Camaro mate Lewis :thumbright:

Red mini was actually a 'Z Cars' kit, according to the tax disc, and a sticker on the boot lid. Looked to have a rear mounted GSX R engine. Neat 8-)

Standard Vanguard home-made pick-up.... created from a saloon when a tree fell on and crushed the roof. Neat 8-)

Stu wanted pics of this Rover for a mate at work who was looking for one.... bit of a bargain as far as I could see in the gloom. Great paint and a 'lived-in' interior. Nice.

Am I imagining things or are the post 70 RR/Sattys and GTX's becoming more common. Really like the back 70/71 440...... 8-)
