Gatornationals Fri 15th March

Only went on the Fri & Sat. Unfortunately we didn't make it there on either day before 10am so we missed the Sportsman classes. I get the impression that the NHRA see Sportsman as an inconvenience at Natioanal events as they didn't get any track time between 11 - 5 (except on finals day).
Still, Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock (cars & bikes) and Pro Mod held our interest. Warmish & sunny both days, tho for some reason the fuelers couldn't get a decent run on the friday, i think the bump by late afternoon was in the 6's. Probably as it's new tarmac.
Got a result going in on the Friday, someone flogged us 4 spare tickets at $15 each ($33 face value), and we got 'Military discount' (they love that over there) for Saturday so $61 instead of $75.
Hope these go down better than the bike photos...

Spotted this 67 GTO at National Parts Depot in Ocala on the way.

Gainesville has changed a bit since we went in '85.

And our runabout - Dodge Grand Caravan. Ideal for 4 blokes with loads of crap.

65 Cornet with the 426........Looks to clean to drive!

Also like the shot of what looks like a GRP BelAir body dragster. Interesting to see the lifters with the covers off.... 8-)

Look closer, I think those are Weber Carbs on that blower.

Shame that Funny cars, pro stocks and pro mods all look pretty much the same on the track these days.

Nice pictures ,, i like all the ballast on the nose of one of them pro mods, about seven pictures from the end i think it was...wonder if thats to keep the nose down or to make the class weight ,,,few pound on there,, Blue would have a heart failure if he had to load that on one of his cars :thumbright:
