Nice but nothing new. In the 70's there used to be a yellow merlin engined Reliant scimiter doing the rounds, I remember seeing it at a custom car show at Southend Aircraft museum (no longer there) I tried to find a pic of it. It had a huge long bonnet and Rolls Royce grill, but RR complained and I think he had to take the grill off, dont know what happened to it as not heard of it for years.

Hi Carl, the yellow Merlin engined car did look a little like a Scimitar but was in fact a one off car built by John Dodds, father of Paul Dodds who is a member of Surrey Muscle. John still owns the car and it lives in Spain. If you go on the Surrey Muscle web site and go to 'The Beast' it makes some fascinating reading, especially the court case about this car. Links to some great vids too.

Yes I heard that story, cant possibly imagine how much gas you would have to feed it to drive it daily. I remember Paul bringing the car to the Guilford Cruise and i'm sure he mentioned 2 or 3 to the gallon - if your lucky!

I know the one you are on about.....Have seen it many times!

Difference compared to the Chevy is that, as Don has pointed out, the Dodds car was custom built for it. The Chevy has retained its outer dims......an engineering marvel in itself!. Then they added a blower to the Chevy.........

Absolutely Mental........Hats of to both for making monster machines!

Up there with Leno's tank car!
