interesting read about r/royce bentley v8 engine

has long been thought the rolls royce/bentley engine first used in 1959 is based on an american v8 like the rover v8/buick but its not

I have to admit I never even knew that anyone thought the engine was based on US technology

I had heard it was baased on an Oldsmobile engine, but now that has been disproved!

I thought assumed heard it was based on a GM small block chevy , olds or buick motor

yes me to, and it shows how good a design it was back in 59 the last build of them saw 520 hp and 750 lbs torque pulling 5,750ib tanks around had to be reliable and 0-60 5 secs 170 top speed pretty credible

I remember back in the 1980's a mate of mine used to work on rollers and bentley's and he used to put AMC cam lifters in the engine. At the time they were £50 for 16 from the local american spares shop and from the rolls dealers they were £90 each.
