Dean Parrish
Toby Legend
Jimmy Ratcliffe
3 before 8....or was it 6?
Keep the Faith eh Miles??
Used to know the guy that had the original Casino sign in his back garden with lights and all after it closed.
Supposed to be a film coming out based on it all. Guess this was a bit of a warm up to it.

Yes, new film soon. Difficult to explain how a bunch of working class white kids adopted completely obscure soul music amd made it their own.
I remember going away to Notts Forest for football and scrapping on the terraces and yet on the Sunday going to a soul all dayer and talking soul with the same characters with no malice.
Great days

The best compliment I can give those three superb tracks is that they sound as fresh today as when they were first recorded, and you cannot say that for the rubbish that's churned out these days. I didn't know until recently that Jimmy Ratcliffe's classic Breakaway with the Steve Karmen big band was originally just a short piece of music that was to be used to advertise 1969 Pontiac,s, that for me really sums up the magic that is Northern Soul.
KTF.
Here's a couple more. The second one, they would always play at northern soul places around nottm and although it's not northern soul it is a good tune.
Mick
Mick, that track is pure Northern soul classic. It got played everywhere and still does. The best All Dayers I ever attended were in Nottingahm Palais. Probably the craziest All Nighter was in Derby Assembly rooms. Two flooors packed with soulies speeding their nuts off, dance competitions, cops seling drugs back to the punters (alledgedly ). It got shut down pretty quickly but was a fantastic venue.

a tad off target here but it used to get an airing at the "blow up" mod nights in camden well before lock-stock soundtrack fame
Just picked the 7 inch of this
remeber seeing it as a teenager in the late 80s for £100+ in the days before ebay
