Custom Disc Conversion

I want to see if there is enough interest in this disc convertion I've come up with before I invest any money into having the componants produced.

The disc is off an mercedes benz and is vented and readily available and the caliper comes off lots of modern cars 2005 up so is easily available.
I got my two calipers of E-bay for £2 and the Discs are £40 each just to give you an idea.

I will supply the brackets to mount the caliper to a Drum spindle and the discs which need the centre hole enlarged and the bolt holes enlarged. I will also supply the information on what calipers work and off which vehicles they come.

Please let me know if you are interested in this kit.
To make the most of this kit all you will still need brake lines and a Disc master cylinder and a proportioning valve.

Looks good.

What is the diameter of the Disc and how much does this modification change the track of the vehicle?

The disc is 290mm in diameter and the disc mounting face is 3mm thicker on the hub face than the drum it repalces.

Excellent - are the calipers cast Iron or alloy?

hey anton looks a neat jobbie, BUT is the caliper carrier plate man enough for the task in hand it looks very thin, when i converted my runner to massive discs and jaguar 4 pot calipers the mounting plate for the caliper was 3/8 thick very rugged mount, there has to be some incredible forces working on that part, ????

At the moment I have mocked it up with 4mm ali as its easy to work with but when I have them laser cut they will be 8mm thick steel.

Interesting viable conversion :thumbright: Have you looked at Nissan Juke? Correct stud pattern for discs.
