Well I finally paid up and joined the MMA so here's a brief intro..... :)
Custom, hot rods and American muscle cars started for me back in the early 70's with Mid Surrey Roadsters, the 'proper' Chelsea Cruise, Ally Pally, Crystal Palace, Santa Pod and all that stuff but somehow got into old Mk2 Jags for 25yrs..... :? Then 10yrs ago bought a Mustang... So, fast forward...

Back in March 2013 bought a 1970 Dodge Challenger 383 Sublime Western Sport Special and have been posting over on the Challenger message board. First post on the car was here http://challenger.mpoli.fi/board/viewto ... ead#unread

Picked it up in Hounslow and drove it back down the M4 to Bristol and was amazed at how well it went. My youngest lad, Mike (24) is now the registered keeper and is the main insured driver so he looks after it now with Dads help ;) Got to get the next generation into these cars....

I like getting all the history together so would welcome any pics and stories you may about the car please. I've got the list of previous owners from the DVLA as follows and have been in touch with Trevor Young over xmas. I was interested to understand how come its had 8 owners in 10yrs

Registered Keeper From;
Les Jeeves 04 August 2006
Carl Henderson 20 September 2005
Philippe Cristol 18 February 2004
Trevor Young 27 September 2001
Graeme Stock 09 August 2000
Matthew Chipchase 03 May 1998
Shirley Osgathorp 03 August 1997
Marc Harman 26 June 1996 who imported the car from Santa Monica

Apart from a minor charging problem requiring a new voltage regulator the car has been immense fun over the summer. Its now in the garage for a winter rebuild of the front suspension & steering plus a few cosmetic issues with the bodywork that we will patch up for now whilst we assess what needs doing over the longer term.

At the risk of upsetting any purists on here with my first post, we're not ones for the stock / concours / factory correct approach so the Challenger is going to get a few cosmetic upgrades but nothing that can't be easily undone!

And then in July this 1970 Plymouth Roadrunner 440 appeared for sale on the Mustang Forum (I'm a member over there with a 67 fastback) and having bought it, I drove that back to Bristol from Hertford and that was FUN.....

Again any pics & stories will all go towards the history file. I'll post more on the Plymouth later.

Welcome aboard.
Looks like you've been bitten by the Mopar bug ?
My dads a jag man himself. Was saving a mk2 for me but got skint and had to flog it. Lovely car. Dark blue I can smell the leather now !
Used to love the push button start.
Enough of my reminiscing
This is a great club I'm sure you will enjoy.

Cheers Gary....
I've still got a Mk2 Jag as well.......... but its now been fitted with a Ford 302 V8 with C4 auto and a race interior. Cant find the time to get it finished and go upset some Jag enthusiasts with it though........

Definitely something different about Mopars that I can't quite put my finger on.......

Trevor Young was a member for a long time and the car got plenty of magazine space.
Dave knows the car and Trevor well. Nice car.

Its good to see you have acquired two cars that are well known cars from the club from years ago.

Welcome!

Haha, yeah shouldn't be a problem. Any excuse for a drive out is welcome. How massive is the Swindon massive! ;)

We got the cars and our pick-up out to the Bristol Queen Square sunday meets last year but not much else happens round here...

Thanks Dave
A Challenger has always been a long time favourite and is a keeper for now. I have to say that I have only sort of 'discovered' Roadrunners over the last year or so and never quite made the connection with that green GTX centrespread that appeared in Custom Car all those years ago which I adored at the time (and still have the article now!)....

Thanks Chip for asking about the Jag....... I'll post some pics sometime over in the other forum section...
