10" front drum question

Just wondering if 9" front drums can be easily replaced with 10" on the existing spindles, hubs etc. Is it a case of replacing the back plate, cylinder, shoes, springs and drum?
I'm not in a position to do a disc conversion as it appears I'd need bigger wheels ( currently 14")
It looks like I'm on the original 9" from when the car was a six pot. The rear brakes are 10" and when IRS all bled and clean the car stops surprisingly well. It's just a thought I had as I'm currently fitting new cylinders to the front and it's all stripped down for new pipes,hoses etc.
In the mean time, any recommendations for new shoe and springy bit suppliers?

You need the complete spindle assy. With the brakes, then it's a bolt in job. The 9" spindle is completely different. I have all the parts you need but unfortunately someone already has there name on them. If I was me I'd get a disc conversion for the 9" spindles from Wilwood or Strange, which is in fact what I'm doing.

I agree with Blue, unless you can find some '73 up A body discs, spindles & upper control arms, these will work with 14" wheels but will also put you on 4 1/2" pcd. Found this

if you car is small balljoint just get an aussie disk brake set up
aussie spindles. same 3.5 inch centres mount for the caliper as the US, its the braket for the caliper that makes the differnce between 10 inch and 11 inch mopar brakes
aussie hub and 10 inch disc top hat
aussie caliper from 71 to 76
or making more sense in the UK
90s landcruiser/hilux 4 pot calipers
in theory disk brakes for about 150 quid second hand
bit of work mind, bit of a fiddle. and some work for find the aussie parts.
DBmotors in leiceter can probably provide a set of stub axles and hubs with rusty disks on
upper balljoint is the same as US dart valiant 60? to 73
what year is your demon and is it small balljoint?

if you are small balljoint and small PCD then you need hubs off a VF or Early VG.
you will then need the VF solid or Early VG vented disk rotors
stub axles the same
any differnce was in the bracket for the caliper
it still bolted to the same 3.5 inch centres mount. which is the same spacing as many wilwood as well
so you could still go to wilwood caliper later on

All Demons are small pcd, they didn't put large pcd on A bodies until '73 model year. Unless it's been changed by a previous owner.

I have a complete set of 10" drums off my Dart but no 10" Spindles for the mas I had to re-use them for the Wilwood set up....4" PCD....

Thanks for all the info everyone, looks like I have a few options then and a bit to think about. I'll measure the inner diameter of my wheels to be sure a disc and calliper would fit. The wheels are the same on the rear with 10" drums in which is why I was contemplating upping the front drum size. Discs would be ideal but could they end up having to be so small as to be no better than 10" drums

Oh no, they are always better than drums on the front a least.
pointless on the back unless you have the handling to go with it, just makes your hand brake rubbish
good enough for a truck etc
