Power steering box

I've just finished faffing about with my power steering box this eve and conclude that rebuild/replacement is most likely.

I've backed off the castellated ring on the steering column end and the ally box nut thingy will undo anti clockwise but there appears to be no more tightening left :( so all was done back up and left alone.

The top adjuster does make a noticeable difference to the stiffness so I've firmed it up slightly but that's not my main concern really.

Can these boxes be rebuilt? Is there a kit available so I could do this or is a professionally built box the way forward? If so, any suggestions. I haven't considered a new box cos I'm guessing that's expensive but if that's what's needed :dontknow:

Cheers guys

I tried and wasted money as it still leaked...new one was £150 from Stateside Autos and my Polara steers perfectly now...no slop and feels very tight...wish I had just gone this route to start with to be honest

Sorry....forgot to say, I didnt use Anton for the rebuild but sure if I had known, he would have done a great job instead of the job I had done at a 'steering specialist'

I stripped out the steering column this afternoon then checked with Anton before I %€$*#%¥ things up  then pulled the back of the box out and pressed the bearing out. Off to my local beating and seal supplier in the morn to see what they can sort out.

Thanks Anton, top bloke :thumbright:

  not off to my local beating and seal shop, although that is one of the more amusing "auto corrects" my phone has come up with lately!!

That'll be the local bearing shop :thumbright: just to clarify for all seal lovers :)
