Transmission Oil Cooler pipework

Transmission Cooler lines........
Chaps,
I will eventually want to get the Radiator in the Dart re-cored. As its an Auto mine has the Rad with the tranny oil cooler setup.
Looking at the pipework running of the rad, they are bent, slightly flat in some areas and corroded. I've had a look online and its obviously not something that they have repro'd. Other than that the small flimsy pipework would probably not make it across the pond un-bent anyway.
So what are my options on replacing?
......I don't want to hook crusty crap up to a newly redone rad. (Small block rad and 904 tranny).
They look steel all the way, but tbh i've not had a proper look yet.
Any idea on line size and fitting connection for these????

Reckon you could make those up easily Dave....let me ask my pal Kev who does all this stuff at home. Bet you could clean and reuse the connectors if you are struggling and just re make the pipes....

Quite right Steve, I've just made up a pair , for a guy at work with a Dodge pick up. They had rotted and sprayed the exhaust with ATF, a bit smokey
I reused the old ends, and used some 5/16 copper kunifer type pipe to make, the pipes.
You need to form the ends of the new pipe, with a swage type tool , like used for brake pipes.
Pure copper tube is a lot easier to bend.

Just did mine in 5/16"copper pipe from the local motor factors, I didn't have a pattern so just avoided the spinning engine bits. You can make them in copper and bend to the shape you have. I fitted a separate cooler, I am wary of water and trans fluid mixing and killing the trans.
Cooler was about £50 for a kit.

Looking like a plan for you Dave...my mate Kev has got the tool to flare the ends for you and will do it for you if you want. Will give you a chance to see his C body collection as well. Hes not far from me and always happy to help out....

Same issue for me Dave, I'm cheating and just using braided rubber lines and re-using the connections onto the rad

AN -6AN lines are the best but will probably set you back £100+.....

Steve, I will probably take your offer up and follow Matt's lead of bending it to look appropriate........
Do you guys use rubber (hydraulic) hose at the ends to help take up tension and not stress the tubing or is it not required and can be hard piped all the way??
Shiny -6AN lines would be great but I'm already overspending on this project........
As Matt eluded too.........Would you guy's recommend getting an external cooler as a safeguard/better than standard option. As I said, i'll be getting the rad re-cored so have will be having it all out anyway......Just more money!

Make your own find a friendly aircon man. Copper or brained will work
Stainless tube is also nice but a bitch to work with.
An external second oil cooler will always be better as does not have the affect of water temp next to it and are normally lager in size than a standard cooler.
I'm sure the standard one will fine if you not doing wheelies

No probs Dave.....if you get some pipe we can take your old ones over to Kevs and bend/ flare them at his workshop. If you need a contact for a re core, try READYRADS 106-112 Emily Street, Highgate, Birmingham B12 0SL 0121 771 0022.
They did a good job with my heater core

Great idea to go for an external trans cooler, be careful not go to big though, overcooling of the tranny fluid will prevent the box from changing correctly.
